In a surprising revelation, filmmaker Boney Kapoor recently shared that Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Diljit Dosanjh were supposed to star as a couple in a film that never saw the light of day. The movie, which was in the works about six to seven years ago, was shelved despite the strong connection and excitement both Chopra and Dosanjh felt about the project.
In an interview with Zoom, Boney Kapoor discussed the film he had planned, describing it as a project close to his heart. According to Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra had expressed great interest in the script, saying, “I have the script next to me, and every night I think of this and imagine myself in the role.” Chopra was enthusiastic about the story, and her passion was evident in her nightly thoughts about the character she would have played.
Unfortunately, the film never materialized, even after the team waited for Chopra to be available. It was around the time she was preparing to leave India for her international career, notably her role in the American drama series Quantico. Despite the setback, Boney Kapoor still recalls the excitement and the potential the movie had, especially with Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role opposite Chopra. The filmmakers had already met with Dosanjh and informed him that he would play Chopra’s on-screen husband.
Kapoor expressed his admiration for the two stars, particularly Diljit Dosanjh, who has since become a global phenomenon. The filmmaker praised Dosanjh for his incredible rise, noting that the Punjabi singer and actor had achieved great success in both India and abroad.
While the initial project may have been shelved, the silver lining came with the announcement that Kapoor and Dosanjh are now working together on No Entry 2, a film that promises to be a major hit. Kapoor emphasized that this collaboration marks the fruition of his long-standing wish to work with Dosanjh, a relationship that dates back years. He stated, “So, our relationship is that old!”
Today, as Dosanjh tours India with his Dil-Luminati Tour, Kapoor is proud to see how far the artist has come, noting how the “God-given” opportunity to work together in No Entry 2 is a testament to Dosanjh’s growing stature in the industry.
